FAQ

Why should you send your child a Montessori School?

A Montessori school is about education for the whole child.  The best time to start a child’s education is between the formative years of 2.5 to 3.5 years.  Most of the child’s intelligence and social characteristics are formed before the age of six.  Montessori students learn at their own pace and address not just typical aspects of learning such as mathematics and language, but address the child’s development of their social character, their understanding of the world, and necessary life skills.  This learning ensures that the children ending a three-year cycle of Montessori learning are best prepared to deal with the challenges that they will face in elementary school and beyond.

Do you offer a two or three day program?

As part of the Montessori philosophy, the consistency of attending school every day is necessary for children to settle into the behavioural expectations so that they can focus on the learning experience offered to them at our school. In this way, we can help each child to reach their personal potential.  Our morning class is 5 days per week and our afternoon class is 4 days per week.  Parents do have the option of attending 2 or 3 days per week in the afternoon class.   We strongly encourage parents to choose consecutive days such as attending Tuesday and Wednesday.

How do your students do when they move to other schools?

While all students can react differently to change and other schools, we believe that their Montessori education will suitably prepare them for elementary school.  Children will benefit the most from completing a three-year cycle.  They will learn to work independently and cooperatively in groups.  Montessori students learn to be problem solvers, are encouraged to make their own decisions, and are curious learners.  This will help Montessori children with their self-esteem and self-confidence, and therefore they can react better to the challenges in the future.

What are the qualifications of your staff?

The Directress and the Assistant of Morgan Creek Montessori have their Montessori certification from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).  In addition, all staff have their Early Childhood Education and First Aid.

How many children and teachers in the class?

There are up to 19 children with two teachers in both the morning and afternoon classes.

What is your tuition payment schedule?

There is a $200 non-refundable registration fee at the time of the application, a deposit equal to one month’s tuition ($475/$410) payable at the time of registration.  The remainder of the tuition can be paid on an annual, quarterly, or monthly basis.  Post-dated cheques are required for the remaining months (except June).  The deposit will be applied to the June tuition.

Do you have before and after-school care?

Morgan Creek Montessori does not offer before or after-school care.  We have instead focus on the Montessori preschool program, offering 3-hour sessions to ensure we are following the standards of Maria Montessori, and therefore offering a stronger Montessori education.

Do you provide transportation to and from the school?

Parents and other caregivers are responsible for transportation to and from Morgan Creek Montessori.
